Bungie's Troubled Action Game Marathon Is Gaining Momentum
Marathon, the studio's highly-anticipated game, has made a reappearance with the news of a exclusive testing phase scheduled to begin in October.
A Rocky Development Journey
Initially revealed during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Marathon has experienced a bumpy creation process. In October 2024, Bungie announced plans were to begin alpha testing during the coming year. A period of silence followed, until the project was showcased again in spring with a Sept. 23 launch date. However, after some playtests led to mixed reactions, Bungie revealed during summer that it was delaying Marathon indefinitely.
Steering Clear of Controversy
Despite the title has already encountered its portion of issues, Bungie appears determined to ensure Marathon avoids Concord's fate. Now, it appears the project's progress is finally getting back on track, as Bungie just revealed that it has conducted multiple private tests to gather feedback on Marathon" since this past summer. The developer is expanding access, allowing additional participants to catch a glimpse of the experience via an upcoming "closed technical test."

"However, the Technical Test build is a work in progress and will only include a portion of what's intended for Marathon's final version, focused on the early player experience."
